Our Story

Curtis Stone Events launched in 2018 in Los Angeles due to the demand for Curtis Stone’s food within the Los Angeles area and beyond. Curtis Stone Events (CSE) offered not only private bookings in Curtis’ restaurants but also on location. From a celebratory lavish feast to an intimate gathering, the CSE team are renowned for creating special occasions that are elegant, relaxed but most of all delicious. In February 2019 after just one year in business, Curtis Stone Events was crowned “Best Catering Company in the West” by the Achievement in Catering & Events Award, California.

Curtis and his older brother Luke grew up together in Essendon, Victoria with Curtis learning to cook from the women in his life and Luke gravitating towards the finance world in the footsteps of his father. The boys were fierce rivals growing up, until they moved into a share house together christened ‘The Circus’ for all the shenanigans the two would get up to with their mates…

Chris Sheldon was a school friend of the Stone brothers. Curtis and Chris then spent the 90s tearing up London, glamorously starting off by sleeping on the floor of their mate’s pub. They spent their nights in the glitziest bars rubbing shoulders with rock stars and royalty, only to catch the night bus home because they couldn’t afford a taxi.
Curtis would even lug a garbage liner of dirty clothes around for the laundromat and check it into the hottest cloakrooms in town.

“We had no money, but I seemed to eat most days in the best restaurants in London as Curtis was the chef… and he used to drink in the best bars because I was the bartender”

From living in crazy share houses and jetting off on boys trips to the Greek Islands, to going out for pizza and rolling home 2 days later; the boys somehow made it through the decade still standing (even after Curtis almost burnt the famous Bluebird restaurant down). The beginnings of their careers were forged in these heady days, and all have gone on to achieve great success in the fast paced and fickle world of hospitality.

Now the three of them have joined forces to bring all their skills to the fore for Curtis Stone Events Australia. They have all matured into family men but their energy, cheekiness and sense of adventure prevail.

Our Team

Curtis Stone

An LA-living Melbourne boy, Curtis Stone is the ultimate international multihyphenate – chef-restaurateur-author-media personality-businessman. Classically trained in Europe, a protege to Michelin-starred chef, Marco Pierre White, Curtis opened his first solo restaurant, Maude, in Beverly Hills in 2014. A 2018 refinement, to focus on a seasonal set menu inspired by the world’s leading wine regions, saw Curtis rewarded with a Michelin star of his own.

Luke Stone

Luke Stone is the Managing Owner of Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Gwen represents the fulfilment of a lifelong dream for Luke and his brother, Curtis, to open a business together. It’s perhaps no surprise that the late Los Angeles Times, Jonathan Gold described a rack of wild venison from Gwen Butcher Shop as “one of the most profound things I’ve ever eaten“.

Chris Sheldon

Like Curtis and Luke, Chris Sheldon is Melbourne born and bred.

Chris brings 25 years’ experience as a hospitality professional to CSE, including 15 years in London where he worked for some of the most highly-regarded chefs in the world including Marco Pierre White and restaurateur Sir Terence Conran and, at Bluebird, he worked alongside a young Curtis Stone. At just 26, Chris launched a company in central London, growing the portfolio to three sought-after bar / restaurants.

In 2011, Chris returned home to Melbourne to take on a senior role at Crown Resorts, spending eight years as General Manager-Food & Beverage.
